BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL

After independence Sindhi’s migrated from Sindh, Pakistan to India with empty handed. So they strived for basic facilities of living. In these difficult times great personalities like Dr.Choithram Gidwani, Shri Jeevanlal, Shri Thanwardas Khubchandani, Shri Virumal and others came forward and worked hard to establish the first sindhi school named Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School, at Kubernagar and then its branch at Sardarnagar for the better future of children. In 1957, after the death of great visionary Dr.Choithram Gidwani the name of the branch of Mahatma Gandhi High school, Sardarnagar was given the name of Dr.Choithram Gidwani in his sweet memories. The school was established as a very small unit with only 13 students has grown like a very big tree with 1400 students.

The school has well maintained specious three buildings The school buildings are two storeyed with 54 spacious   classrooms, well equipped Science Laboratory large and well Maintained  Library, Examination room, Staff room, Craft room, Computer room, N.C.C. room, Store room,  Activity Hall,  sufficient  sets  of  Toilets  for  staff   (Ladies and Gents)  and Girls and Boys There is a separate wing for K.G. classes having, play ground , Toys room, and other facilities.

SPECIAL FEATURES

1. Any kind of Development fee, Building Fee or so called “Donation” is never charged.
2. All members of staff are highly qualified. Appointments are made strictly on merit  with the assistance of experts from outside.
3. Members of the staff are not permitted to take any private tuition. Remedial teaching is done to the educationally backward children after the regular school hours.
4. Refresher training courses are also arranged for the teachers from time to time so that they may be well acquainted with the new development in theory and practice of education.
5. Computer education is taught from Std. III to XII.  
6. Balance in curricular, co-curricular and extra activities is maintained.

Name of the society was  Nav Bharat Vidya Mandal The Registered office of the society is at 13 Hamam street Fort Bombay, at the time of establishment.

The founder members of the trust are as under:-

The aims of establishing the trust school is maintained and followed to promote Sindhi language, Sindhi art and Sindhi culture through education institution.
The objects for which association is established are:-

1. To spread education at all stages among boys and girls irrespective of caste or community with the sole purpose of making them into useful citizens of the country and enable them to have honest and graceful life.
2. To open and run educational institutions at various places in the country.
3. To introduce useful and basic crafts in the institutions and to give vocational training so as to open out events for making decent living.
4. To publish school magazine, pamphlets , books and literature for the benefit of the  students .
5. To start commercial and technical schools.
6. To open and run boarding houses for students.

At present trust is also running  the English medium Primary School and within a very short time secondary section will also be started.

Though the school is primarily meant  to provide education to Sindhi pupils but other pupils are also admitted without any distinction of caste or creed with due respect to their religions feeling and freedom of conscience.

At present management of the affairs of the society vested in a committee consisting following members.

All the present trustees are working honorary. Some of them are educationists, freedom fighters having good social status and had availed responsible posts of the government department. They are giving good services and attention in the institute . some of our trustees had also given services to the society as M. P., M.LA and as freedom fighters .
